Murston Plant

Ashford based construction plant hire company Murston Plant Limited has been acquired by fellow Kent-based GSE Plant Limited, part of the GSE Group. GSE Group also includes activities in haulage, building, civil engineering and design and build. As a result of the transaction, Roy Allan, the former director is retiring from the plant hire business to concentrate his activities on Murston Construction Limited, a company specialising in property development and construction.

Both Murston Plant and GSE Plant are specialist construction plant hire companies with clients incorporating both local and regional business and blue chip companies. Both companies use a wide range of high quality plant and their equipment has been utilised in many of the major construction projects in the South East of England.

Lead adviser to the shareholders of Murston Plant was Peter Counsell of Meta Corporate Finance. Peter Counsell said “Roy Allan had developed the Murston Plant business very well from its acquisition in 1995. In many ways the acquisition by GSE is a natural progression linking back to Roy’s former colleague, Darrell Healey. It was a pleasure to work with the shareholders and to structure a transaction which satisfied the objectives of both the buyers and the exiting shareholders.”

Roy Allan said “I am very happy to see Murston Plant now under GSE’s ownership. The negotiations proceeded in a very professional manner, as you would expect, but this was aided significantly by Peter Counsell’s role as lead adviser. He maintained an air of calm that helped the transaction move to a successful conclusion.”
