Overseas Courier Service Ltd

Tim Jones and Lance Farr, the CEO and FD of Overseas Courier Service (London) Limited (“OCS”) have acquired OCS from its previous owners in an MBO structured by Meta Corporate Finance.

OCS is a leading supplier of courier, mail and media services, with its roots in serving the needs of the Japanese community in London in the 1960s. The business was developed significantly by its previous owners, the Furuzawa family, and by the management team themselves. As well as its traditional courier activities, OCS has also won the prestigious door-to-door distribution contract for The Times. OCS also number TM Lewin, Thomas Pink, BMW, Canon and the London Stock Exchange amongst its illustrious client base.

Acquisition and working capital funding for the transaction was supplied by the management team and by Centric Commercial Finance.

Alyson Howard and Peter Counsell of Meta Corporate Finance advised the management team on the acquisition. Alyson said “We are delighted for Tim and Lance. They have achieved their initial goal with this MBO. Tim and Lance and the business have a very solid base from which to work in developing OCS. We expect to maintain a close relationship with them throughout this next phase.”

Tim Jones, CEO of OCS, said “The differentiator for OCS from its competition is its desire and ability to go that extra yard to satisfy its customers. That was also what we found with Peter and Alyson at Meta. Through their skills and contacts they kept a very complicated structure on course for completion, leaving Lance and I with the time to the run the business. A very good allocation of tasks and responsibilities.”
